Questions & Answers
Question:- "What happens
if I don't like the plant I have ordered?"
Answer:- Urban Tropics
will accept return of the plant within 7 days but shipping will be
charged. Please make sure that the plant is properly packaged in the
manner it was received to ensure
it travels safely. Urban Tropics cannot accept returns damaged in
transit. Until the plant has been safely returned we cannot make a
refund. If returning a plant please make sure it is watered before
being collected by the courier. The photos of the plants displayed are not
necessarily of the actual size plant you have ordered so please go by
the sizes offered rather than the photos which maybe of mature
specimens. If we have sent you the wrong plant or if there is a
situation for which we are clearly to blame we will offer to rectify
the mistake or give you a full refund including shipping.
When ordering larger
specimens not listed here we send photos of the actual plant for your
approval so you can feel more secure about your purchase. The cost of
handling and shipping these larger trees and shrubs prohibits us from
accepting returns, so please satisfy yourself before ordering. It
is essential to remember too that large trees are in large containers.
Please make sure that the size of the container will fit through door
or side gate openings. When asking for a quote for large specimens pot
sizes will be given to you. When the plant is delivered to you the
courier will offload it but you may require extra manpower to move the
tree to the planting position as some trees can be a considerable
weight. Once again we will give you the weight of the tree when
quoting. (The
courier will only offload the plant but will not move it)
Question:- "How long does
it take to receive my plant and how is the shipping cost calculated?"
Answer:- If the plant is
in stock Urban Tropics will aim to despatch your plant within 5 to 7
days, however during busy periods this may take up to 14 days. If
delivery is urgent please email us and we will do our best to
accommodate you. If the plant is out of stock we will email you and
offer you either an alternative or full refund. Some plants need to be
reserved so when they arrive at the beginning of the season you are
sure of your delivery.
All plants which have
hyphenated codes are charged at a minimum shipping rate of 10kg - £14
and 50p per kg thereafter. Smaller less bulky plants are charged at
£7.95 for the first 10kgs and 40p per kg thereafter. With plants
weighing less than 10kg the shipping is more cost affective by ordering
more than one.
Question:- "What happens
if the plant dies?"- Can I have my money back?"
Answer:- No unfortunately
not. The plants despatched to you are quality controlled and sent out
in prime condition. We cannot be held responsible for mistakes in
watering and care of your plant. The minimum temperatures indicated are
merely a guide to the hardiness of the species. Mature trees will
withstand more frost and cold than young plants. When you receive your
plant please make sure that it is watered and acclimatised before
planting. No trees or shrubs should be planted through the winter
months when the ground is cold. Indoor plants should never be placed in
direct sunlight or in close proximity to a radiator. Plants are living
and like us they respond to tlc and equally like us will suffer if
neglected.
Question:- "Will I be
able to speak to anyone if I need help in deciding about a particular
plant?"
Answer:- Yes, we actively
encourage our customers to keep a close relationship with us. We will
always do our best to answer any query you may have and to help you
however we can. At the end of the day a satisfied customer is a happy
customer and your custom is paramount to us. You may speak to me

IMPORTANT
Some palms such as
chamaerops and phoenix are armed with spiteful thorns along the
petioles. Care should be exercised when handling the plants - always
wear protective gloves. Young children should be discouraged from going
near such plants. Urban Tropics and its agents cannot accept
responsibility for injury no matter how caused.
The purchase of a plant, or placement of an order, implies
acceptance of these terms.
Please don't be put off by the language of the statement above - we are
legally obliged to provide this information, and in practice we are
more than happy to discuss any problems you might have with the plants
we have sent you :-)
