Trachycarpus Wagnerianus - Minature Chusan

This is a relative of Trachycarpus Fortunei originating from the foothills of the Himalayas it also very hardy and with mature specimens tolerating more cold than anything we are likely to experience here in the UK down to -16c. It is similar in every respect to its cousin except that whereas Trachycarpus Fortunei dislikes very windy exposed sites, Trachycarous Wagnerianus is far more wind tolerant with its stiffer leaves being no more than 2 feet across. It has a much more compact head of leaves but no less beautiful and is perfect for the smaller garden. The reference to miniature relates to the size of the leaves but this palm grows very fast and within a few years makes a handsome specimen.

Unfortunately, these wonderful palms are extremely scarce. Sometimes we are able to offer bigger sizes but the size we offer below makes a perfect gift for someone wanting their very first palm tree outdoors.

For those wanting larger sizes please email us to register your interest and as soon as we get delivery we will contact you.

* Please note that sizes stated are very approximate and the heights of the plants sent may differ from those in the catalogue. While we try to be honest in describing the size of plants, they are, after all, living things and two plants in the same batch, ostensibly the same 'size' may be very different from each other. Additionally, photographs of palms in the catalogue are often of mature trees and obviously young plants are likely to have a rather different appearance, taking many years, for example, to form a trunk.
