This North
London garden was designed and planted in 1981 and has naturally matured
over the years. The setting on the edge of Hampstead Heath is idyllic
although being so high up it is unable to take advantage of the micro
climate of nearby central London.
Despite the drawbacks of
being in a frost pocket, many palms, mature trees and shrubs thrive with
minimal maintenance. Indeed the highest maintenance comes from the lawn.
Magnificent terraces are
in a specially imported frost proof octangle terracotta tile imported from
Mexico for the project.
The fact that over the
years this garden has been subjected to snow, hurricanes and other extremes
of weather is testimony to the hardiness of many exotic plants. Pictures are
worth a thousand words and the photos of this project says it all.
